Frequently Asked Questions

Will you do indoor studio photography? 

Currently, my photography is all done outdoors.  I enjoy the fresh air and I think natural lighting can't be replicated.  There may be some point when I tackle indoor studio photography.  But for now, outdoors is where I enjoy the best!

I see you do dog photography.  Will you do take pictures of other pets?

Yes, I'll take pictures of your pet rock if you want!  Though you probably don't.  However, due to my photography taking place outdoors, we will just need to be sure that your pet can be secured by a leash or something else that can keep them safely contained so they won't run away.  I can usually edit out any leashes in the photos.  In summary, I am happy to chat about taking pictures of any pets... unless they have eight legs.  Pet spiders need not apply.

What time do sessions take place?

I typically like to do sessions in the late afternoon / early evening when the sun isn't shining too brightly.  Natural outdoor lighting is best when the shadows aren't too harsh.  But I am happy to work with you to figure out what works best for both of our schedules, especially if there are little kids with nap schedules.

What happens if it rains?

Since my sessions are always outdoors, we can certainly have a rainy day pop up to make things challenging.  I will try to wait as long as possible to reschedule in case the weather changes quickly.  But if it doesn't, no worries!  I can work with you to reschedule to another date that works for you.

Is my deposit refundable if I cancel or reschedule the session?

If we reschedule the session due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, your $50 deposit will be moved towards your rescheduled session.  However, if you must cancel your session, unfortunately, your $50 deposit will not be refunded.

How long until I receive my photos?

I typically like to have the photos back to you from your session within two to three weeks.  If there are delays with that timeline for any reason, I will definitely keep you posted.

How do I secure my session?

There is a $50 non-refundable session fee due at booking to secure your session.  The deposit will go towards the total cost of the session.  You can book the session via the "book online" page on my website and submit the remaining payment after the session.

What locations do you use for your photoshoot?

I travel to most areas in the Northern Virginia area.  There are a lot of wonderful nature-filled areas around this area that I can suggest close to where you live so you don't have to travel too far.  I also am happy to travel to a specific location you may have in mind.  I do prefer to keep travel to locations within 25 miles of my home zip code of 20121.

What should we wear for our photoshoot?

That is completely up to you!  It depends on what you want your pictures to look like.  You can dress up for more formal family portraits or if you are a more laid-back family, you can dress as casually as you would like.  I tend to just try to have a good time during the session and I want you to be comfortable.  I have even had a photoshoot of myself done while I was wearing an inflatable T-Rex costume so nothing scares me!  If you need some suggestions, I am happy to help out.  We can chat about it beforehand. Just wear what you feel the most comfortable in and we will have a great time!
